"Concentrating on vital information such as action, grounding objects and pattern i form a visual haiku in which I hold a moment in high regard for it's simplicity and commonplace atmosphere. Fully flushing out the space is not a necessity in my works, I find what is imperative to me, such as detail on a dish, or the pattern of a robe, which may seem frivolous to another. The attention to the details of the table pieces and motifs in my scenes reflect the appeal of the handmade in my personal life. The women in my drawings call back to the library of master works that I pull from. A stance may mimic one of Gauguin's Tahitian women, while the cool look on the face is that of a deity of a Persian miniature. These pieces observe a moment alone, they display the contentment of a solitary scene where being alone is not the same as being lonely."
